The south shore is dominated by the adjacent town of Stateline, Nevada, and Tahoe City, California, which is located on the northwest shore of the lake. The small center of the northern shoreline includes Tahoes City and Kings Beach, but the most identified tourist area on Lake Tahoe is the small town of Truckee, north of Lake Lake Lake, to the north.

Kirkwood, Sierra Tahoe and Heavenly are all located on the north shore of Lake Lake Lake, north of Truckee City and south of Kings Beach. The main route to Lake Tahoes is accessible from Trukkee via US Route 50 and from the south shore to the east via Interstate 80.
